AMFI X DRIES VAN NOTEN CAPSULE COLLECTION:
REPOSITIONING ASHERS MEMORIES
This capsule collection was part of my semester collections where we were assisned to design in the name of Dries van Noten with ourn own implement.
When my grandfather passed away, my mother went through his house to clean all of his belongings. When searching through the apartment, so many objects, belongings and memories were dug up. Some which I have never encountered and some that were part of my childhood. I got inspired by all of these items and pictures and wanted to give these a new meaning. By repositioning his memories I gave my designed garments a humoristic twist. By repositioning collars and lapels, big pockets and the pomegranate (which stand for a new beginning) in a rather unconventional way. Additionally making use of upcycling by using his beautiful brocade table cloth and blouses. I want others to feel more connected with their memories of loved ones with a brighter and accepting perspective.
DESIGN METHOD
- BRICOLAGE DESIGN INSPIRED BY CONTEXT; Bricolage, in a design context, refers to a creative approach that utilizes available resources and materials to construct something new or solve a problem, often in the absence of readily available or ideal tools or materials. It's about "making do" with what's on hand, repurposing existing items, and creatively combining them to achieve a desired outcome. REPOSITIONING ASHERS MEMORIES
